Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate.
Our deepest fear is that we are powerful
beyond measure
It is our light,
not our darkness,
that most frightens us.
We ask ourselves, who am I to be brilliant,
gorgeous, talented and fabulous?
Actually, who are you not to be?
You are a child of God. Your playing small
doesn’t serve the world.
There’s nothing enlightened about shrinking
so that other people won’t feel insecure
around you.
We were born to make manifest the glory of
God that is within us.
It’s not just in some of us; it’s in everyone.
And as we let our own light shine,
we unconsciously give other people the
permission to do the same.
As we are liberated from our own fear,
our presence automatically
liberates others.

The following is an extract from ‘Wheels of Light’ by Rosalyn L. Bruyere.

In the ancient world, a major purpose of initiation in all the mysteries was to awaken the ‘inner sight’. Theoretically, after one experiences the rising of the kundalini – the awakened serpent power – not only ‘sight’ but all the siddhi powers are made available to the newly conscious initiate. (The 12 siddhi powers are Clairvoyance [seeing Spirit], Clairaudience [hearing Spirit], teleportation [moving an object from one place to another], telekinesis [spoon bending and moving things within an area of sigh]), precognition [knowing things before they happen], levitation [hovering above the ground], telepathy [receiving silent messages and thought transference], clairsentience [sensing the presence of Spirit], invisibility, bilocation [moving YOURSELF from one place to another], materialization [bringing an object from the invisible into matter], and healing.)

In the mythologies of China and India, and in particular those of Greece and Egypt, the myth of the snake as part of this kundalini initiation process is predominant. Although the initiates into the ancient mystery religions were sworn to secrecy regarding their experience, the few personal accounts which have survived make it clear that the purpose of these initiations was the same in all cultures: the function of all lesser mysteries or the lower grades of initiation, was to convey to the initiates information about the nature of the higher worlds, while the purpose of the greater mysteries, or the higher degrees of initiation, was to bring the initiate into direct contact with the beings who inhabit these higher worlds.

I suggest to you that the learning of the lesser mysteries takes place after we take responsibility for our life and all the action in it. Doing this we increase the rate of our vibrational bodies and bring them into balance, thus preparing us to learn the greater mysteries.

The lesser mysteries are concerning OURSELVES, the greater mysteries are concerning the Universe; each is a reflection of the other, and part of the Whole.

In her book Rosalyn explains that in the ancient days ‘seekers on the Path’ withdrew from everyday life and joined the mystery schools seeking to ultimately perfect themselves. They took on a life of strict discipline, cleansing and purifying the body, meditating and turning within, to make the connection with the Higher Self; they knowingly worked on raising the vibrations of their body. The priests, having greater knowledge, put them through series of tests, or initiations, in order for the initiate to gain more knowledge as a result of these hardships.

Initially the lower mysteries were conducted collectively (in group), but the greater mysteries were conducted individually, and the initiate had to train for seven years before being permitted to participate.

The kundalini initiation was a major part of these greater mysteries. It involved taking the Initiate to a circular room, an inner sanctuary, bare except for the keystone in the middle of the floor. When the keystone was removed it revealed a shaft that led down to a subterranean chamber whose underground passageways were cut in such a way as to form a maze. The maze was populated with snakes.

(The Initiate) would be dropped into the labyrinth through the hole made by the removal of the keystone (or capstone) then the capstone would be replaced. The Initiate was required to live in that underground maze for nine days in total darkness with no food or water. If he survived he was brought out and the second part of his test was to report what had happened in and around the country during his nine days of internment.

At the Temple of Eleusis, near Athens, the ultimate test was for the Initiate to be handed seven kernels of wheat, each of which was to have been germinated into a stalk by the time he came out.

Everyone’s reaction on hearing that story has been “Phew I’m glad I didn’t live in those days and have to go through that!”

Well I put it to you now that you are going through that initiation RIGHT NOW – the 21st century equivalent of it; that your Spirit is an Initiate whose soul has been through lifetimes of experience to enable you to take this test. That you were put down that hole as you descended from spirit into matter; the nine-month birth process which the nine-day period symbolised. And that your life up until the point where you put your feet on the Spiritual Path was spent wandering through that maze (of life) trying to find your way back to the Light Source beyond the capstone – which sits on the floor of the temple in the twelfth dimension of Earth from whence you came. It took a seven-year cycle from your arrival there to your arrival here – symbolised by the seven-year training period (read again Lesson 2).

(Let me also remind you at this point about the Plan A and Plan B that we discussed in Lesson 11. When we die we have only attained Plan B - the date that was pre-arranged if we didn’t find out the TRUTH about our Spiritual Selves, and therefore failing to perfect the physical body.

Some people spend their whole lifetime wandering through that maze and getting nowhere, but don’t worry, they are not in there for eternity; that’s why we have Plan B. “Beam me up Scotty, I couldn’t find my way back!” And so you will physically die and your consciousness will find itself out on the planes – in the place that you have earned for yourself by your reactions whilst in the maze of earth life. And your learning and knowledge will continue on your journey back to your soul.

For those who mentally send out the call for HELP whilst in the maze, a guide will appear, making the way a little easier and progress faster. Then you will find yourself following the Spiritual Path, and by your enhanced energy you will break down the barriers and move through them. You will FACE your fears  - and find that they are only harmless snakes, and with the understanding of this comes the Wisdom that was always symbolised by the snake in ancient times.

Do you understand now why there are no PROBLEMS in life, only CHALLENGES. That in letting go of all FEAR you are learning to make the snake your pet AND INITIATING THE RISE OF THAT SERPENT POWER UP THE SPINE. That FORGIVENESS makes the way smooth. And that by BRINGING DOWN THE LIGHT you can now SEE your way through the blackness. No wonder our meditations show us TUNNELS, WALLS, DOORWAYS, KEYS, BRIDGES. It really IS happening to you, it’s NOT illusion. The way we look at the circumstances in our life is the illusion part!

(Another key question, have you been dreaming about snakes? That is our Higher Self alerting us to what this life is all about – the Snake Initiation.)

Now, what about the seven wheat kernels that you were given to germinate with your own power? Could they be the seven stages of Christ, which is happening to our body? (Lesson 11).

The crop represents the fruit of our labour – the measure of what you put into your life is what you will get out of it. So let’s start putting in 100% in full awareness that all of this endeavour is going to be very well worth while.

Your task, once you get back to the entrance, will be to blow that capstone right off the top with the energy you have gained in your journey. When ALL knowledge will be known to you, and you will HAVE the twelve siddhi powers.

Rosalyn’s book came to us at just the right time to fill in a gap in our learning; at that stage in our development we knew that for both of us our 12th chakra had become fully activated, and had been for some months now. The activation of the 12th forms what Mark Prophet refers to as ‘the Pyramid of Life’; the four balanced lower bodies: physical, etheric, emotional and mental, form the four cornerstones of the pyramid, while the three higher bodies: Christ, Causal and I Am Bodies form the upper stories. However, we were informed that no pyramid is complete without the activation of the capstone. What did that mean? It was explained to us that the ancient pyramids were only buildings until the crystal and gold capstone was put into place which then ACTIVATED the whole thing, making the pyramid a transmitter and receiver of the Higher Energies. How did we activate our pyramid then? We were left to find that out.

One afternoon I read the piece about the initiation that took place in the inner sanctuary and the removal of the keystone or capstone. I was so intrigued by it that I read it again, out loud this time, to Jim that night - but still the penny did not drop! We went off to sleep after discussing it then I was woken in the early hours. I lay there wide-awake hearing Jim breathing, and suddenly I was IN the circular temple looking at the capstone on the floor! As I watched, it moved to one side revealing the hole that led down to the labyrinth, and at last the word CAPSTONE finally CONNECTED. Next I was at the bottom of the shaft and as I looked up to the light I saw the capstone being put back into place and I was plunged into darkness. A voice said to me, Now what would you do? Your soul has experienced this many times.

I lay there and thought it out: I would have been prepared for this with seven years of training, I would know all about the use of the Light, and how to focus on God. If I knew that someone was going to come along in nine days and remove that capstone then no way would I go wandering off into the maze. Besides, I would have the knowing that the snakes were not poisonous, they only represented negative fears – and at this stage I would have none. No, I would just sit there holding my seven wheat kernels in my hands, using the Light and focusing on God till that capstone was removed. I then received the knowing that this particular Initiation always resulted in Transformation; the Initiate either came out having developed his siddhi powers because of his seclusion and focus, or he would have died – but as we know there is no such thing as death! Either way, to take this Initiation heralded a new level of awareness.

With that knowledge our personal pyramid-energy fields received the ‘capping’.

So now that you KNOW where you are at, let’s have a little questionnaire:

1.      In the months following the completion of Level 1 how did your life change? What were you led to do next?

2.      Do you think you have become a ‘better person’? Or should we say a more AWARE person?

3.      How has it affected the people around you?

4. I tell my class I DON’T want to know the answer to this question but... How’s your sex life??? And that really IS a leading question because initially the sexual energies have to be re-channelled to help energise the REST of your chakra centres.

Gone is the practice of retiring into a cave and resisting life – for life IS the Initiation, so there is no need to become abstinent - it will simply just happen; either your partner will get a job working away or you will. Or your partnership will have ended. Or one of you will have some physical reason that will prevent intercourse. Don’t fret about it; if you are developing yourself Spiritually just know that it is a stage we must go through. So no, you haven’t lost your libido or your attraction to the opposite sex, you will eventually become a more dynamic person in every way – you are just learning patience and serenity in the meantime!

At this point in the class we show a wonderful video called The Miracle of Life in which the first photography within the body shows the process involved in conception, the actual moment that the fertilised egg begins to divide, and some of the stages of the foetus during the nine months in the womb. Fascinating stuff! So your homework this week is to get hold of that video if possible, or the ABC series The Human Body. If not able to do so go to the library and get a book on the process. LEARN of the incredible set of circumstances involved in you just getting here - the odds were all against it! Then I read to the class the following extract from Og Mandino’s ‘The Greatest Miracle in the World’

Consider a painting by Rembrandt or a bronze by Degas or a violin by Stradivarius or a play by Shakespeare. They have great value for two reasons: their creators were masters and they are few in number. Yet there are more than one of these.

On that reasoning you are the most valuable treasure on the face of the earth, for you know who created you and there IS only one of you.

Never, in all the seventy billion humans who have walked this planet since the beginning of time has there been anyone exactly like you.

Never, until the end of time, will there be another such as you.

You have shown no knowledge or appreciation of your uniqueness.

Yet, you are the rarest thing in the world.

From your father, in his moment of supreme love, flowed countless seeds of love, more than four hundred million in number. All of them, as they swam within your mother, gave up the ghost and died. All except one! You.

You alone persevered within the loving warmth of your mother’s body, searching for your other half, a single cell from your mother so small that more than two million would be necessary to fill an acorn shell. Yet, despite impossible odds, in that vast ocean of darkness and disaster, you persevered, found that infinitesimal cell, joined with it, and began a new life. Your life.

You arrived, bringing with you, as does every child, the message that I was not yet discouraged of man. Two cells now united in a miracle. Two cells, each containing twenty-three chromosomes and within each chromosome hundreds of genes, which would govern every characteristic about you, from the colour of your eyes to the charm of your manner, to the size of your brain.

With all the combinations at my command, beginning with that single sperm from your father’s four hundred million, through the hundreds of genes in each of the chromosomes from your mother and father, I could have created three hundred thousand billion humans, each different from the other.

But who did I bring forth?

You! One of a kind. Rarest of the rare. A priceless treasure, possessed of qualities in mind and speech and movement and appearance and actions as no other who has ever lived, lives or shall live.

Why have you valued yourself in pennies when you are worth a king’s ransom? Why did you listen to those who demeaned you… and far worse, why did you believe them?

Take counsel. No longer hide your rarity in the dark. Bring it forth. Show the world. Strive not to walk as your brother walks, nor talk as your leader talks, nor labour as do the mediocre. Never do as another. Never imitate. For how do you know that you may not imitate evil; and he who imitates evil always goes beyond the example set, while he who imitates what is good, always falls short. Imitate no one. Be yourself. Show your rarity to the world and they will shower you with gold.
